
Wall Street Journal reports today that Google's Android mobile platform won't launch until Q4 and not Q3 as originally hoped. Hardly a surprise but it goes to show how difficult it can be to pull all of the pieces together on a platform -- no matter how promising the software -- when you are dependent on hardware vendor timetables.

For my part, 12-14 months from public announcement to launch is not the end of the world for something as complex as a wireless platform.
But I think expectations are generally higher for anything emanating from the Googleplex. Perhaps unfairly so.
