From John Battelle's rather resourceful Searchblog comes a post today comparing the first three years of growth for newcomer Twitter with Facebook and Google.
Hey we all know that numbers don't lie (well, sorta) but in this case they can be misleading. Twitter's three year total (8M uniques) pales next to Google's (18M uniques) and Facebook's (24M uniques).
But as Battelle rightly points out, we may be dealing with a case of apples and oranges here. As many as 50% of Twitter users may never hit the website; relying instead on tools like TweetDeck, Twitterific and the multitude of mobile-based/web-based applications which leverage the Twitter API.
