Johnny Lee Demonstrates Wii Remote Hacks at TED

Johnny Lee is a graduate student at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. Thanks to YouTube, his hacks on the Nintendo Wii remote -- which include an interactive whiteboard and a head-mounted 3-D viewer among others -- have been seen by millions literally, according to Lee.

While he covers a lot of ground in five minutes, Lee's presentation at TED is worth watching if only to understand what is possible with a $40 Wii remote, a trip to Radio Shack, and a wonderful sense of ingenuity.

D.J. Smith is Co-Founder & Senior Principal at WebDriven. A 15-plus year veteran of the Internet, he still remembers - albeit not too fondly -- how to setup a gopher site.
