Google Experimental Search: Testers Wanted

Google Labs recently launched Experimental Search, which allows you the searcher to evaluate new ways to view and interact with Google's search data.

Google Experimental Search: I'm currently checking out 'left-hand nav' (Updated: 2/14)

And you can choose from an array of five options including:

- Alternate views of search results
Use an interactive timeline for display of relevant results, or where relevant, map them

- Keyboard shortcuts
Single keystroke allow you to put the mouse down (HINT: J selects the next result)

- Left-hand search navigation
This option gives you the ability to browse and select related types of searches (images, etc) for a particular search term

- Keyword suggestions
Get alternative searches in real time with tallies of total search results available for that search

- Right-hand contextual search navigation
Same as left-hand just on the right side of the page

One drawback: you can only join one experiment at the time. And while some of these features will have only have limited appeal overall I think the Google team is creating useful tools to extend the value of the search experience.
