WebDriven's Buzz Box on Search Trends : Harry Potter and NBA Refs

Buzz Box #1: Harry Potter, Earthquakes & NBA Refs
A snapshot of search trends (Yahoo vs. Google) as we head into the weekend.

WebDriven's Buzz Box: Hot Searches on Yahoo! and Google

Harry Potter rules the top spot on Yahoo! Buzz Log (2 spots in the top ten) while the first Harry Potter reference on Google Trends comes in at #26 and cuts to the chase - "does harry potter die?"

Top of the heap on Google Trends are searches on the NBA referee accused of betting on basketball (Tim Donaghy).

A 4.2 earthquake in the San Francisco area also rumbles (sorry, couldn't help it) into Google's top five, while Transformers and the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) league round out Yahoo's top spots.

About Google Trends
Google Trends aims to provide insights into broad search patterns. Several approximations are used when computing your results. Please keep this in mind when using it. (Source: Google)

About Yahoo Buzz Index
A subject's buzz score is the percentage of Yahoo! users searching for that subject on a given day, multiplied by a constant to make the number easier to read. Weekly leaders are the subjects with the greatest average buzz score for a given week. (Source: Yahoo!)
