iGoogle, MyYahoo: Personalized Search Battle Rages On

iGoogle, the latest from the Googlesphere in Mountain View, offers an expanded, customizable "my" personalized search page packed with lots of Google-powered (along with some non-Google) goodies.

Visual themes, drag-and-drop-able AJAX tiles allow users to drop in everything from local weather and Comedy Central's Joke of the Day to Wiki and YouTube search, among other offerings. igoogle.jpg

Heck, you can even customize the Google logo to randomly choose a logo for you or stick your favorite holiday version on your iGoogle forever.

The battle of the personalized search page rages on; right now Google's offering has the tastier treats in terms of usability and Google-powered features.

MyYahoo! Gaining Ground

Not to be outdone, Yahoo! is clearly gaining ground with its most recent release offering similar utility even if the interface is a touch less elegant and usable. Drawing from a range of popular Yahoo! services and content offerings, MyYahoo! offers more of a guided approach with Editor's Picks and easy-to-navigate lists of available RSS feeds by topic.
