With the launch of Trailer Park, MySpace now offers a "one-stop-shop" for movie trailers. True to the MySpace model, users can add trailers to their MySpace pages, view still photos or visit the MySpace page for a particular movie. Obvious shortcomings are a lack of basic information about the movie such as release date but our guess is the guys at MySpace will remedy that in short order.
Increasingly motion picture distributors are using myspace.com/movie_title as the primary web address for marketing their movies in print and television spots. Yet another sign that -- at least for the moment -- the sheer size of the MySpace audience has made it a critical component of any mass marketing approach.
These trends have implications for many types of organizations, including non-profits, which we'll be discussing in future posts.
